OMG WRINKLES!?

9.11.2013

As a female in her mid-twenties I have become acutely aware of the fact that this is the PRIME time to start moisturizing, anti-wrinkl-ing, pore de-clogging, and all those other things that we do to prevent aging.

Normally, my routine/plan of action is to use Proactiv twice a day. Realistically, I'm lucky if I use it once. My skin has always been prone to breakouts, but I find that as long as I use the new extra strength formula and I use it CONSISTENTLY (which actually does mean using it twice a day), I can keep my skin pretty clear.

As far as prepping to combat gravity, the sun, and old age - I've stock piled some drug store products that I've learned to love over the past few months. However, consistency is my biggest issue because 1.) I'm lazy 2.) I find myself less often at home and more often without my skin care products and 3.) My skin is super oily so I hate putting on moisturizers that make it even worse.

ALL those things set aside, here's what I have loved over the past year or so:

1. Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Moisturizer (Night) - LOVE this. I have a ton of acne scarring all over my face and this is certainly helped diminish the appearance of those annoying scars. I haven't been using it as consistently as I should, but when I was using it every night I noticed the scars were much less prominent just after the first two weeks. If you have acne scarring, I highly recommend. Not to mention it also evens out your skin tone.

2. L'Oreal Collagen Moisture Filler - This is another great product that I would put on prior to apply my primer or any type of foundation I would put on my face. It has SPF 15, which I like because I prefer to use moisturizers/makeup that has SPF in it because I'm not good at applying sunscreen to my face on a daily basis. This moisturizer helps to fill in some fine lines and definitely works really well when paired with a primer.

3. Bio Oil - I think this used to be a best-kept secret, but at this point everyone knows about Bio Oil. I'll never forget the first time I heard about it. I was in a flower shop about a year ago, and while talking to the florist, a man who I assumed was in his late 30s or early 40s, he asked me to guess his age. When he told me he was in his 50s I was floored. He told me his secret was Bio Oil and that he put it on every night before he went to bed. Literally that day I went and bought some Bio Oil from Target and I haven't looked back since. I don't use it as often in the summer because my skin is already super oily, but in the winter it's on my face every night. It helps fade the appearance of scars, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles, while it evens out your skin tone, hydrates, and prevents aging. Definitely stick to applying this at night though, unless you have super dry skin.

4. Garnier 2-in-1 Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizer: I talked about this in my August favorites. I LOVE this. It was SO easy for me to use consistently because I would put it on every day before I started my makeup. Love the formula: smooth, relatively non-greasy feeling texture. Smells fresh and feels awesome on my skin. I apply it all over my face, neck, and rub the excess on the backs of my hands. I'm currently down to the very end of product and will definitely be repurchasing asap.
