Most days I rock my fake hair. I just clip it right in and I instantly have long, beautiful locks that I miss so much. Since I wear my extensions so frequently, I like to wash them every one to two weeks just to keep them looking semi-normal and not so much like a rats' nest that they can sometimes resemble. Watch the video below to see how I wash my extensions or read on for more information!
Step One | Gather Wefts Together
Once all the extensions are neatly gathered together, tie off the top with a hair tie. This helps to prevent the actual clips from getting wet.
Step Two | Wet Wefts
Using warm water be sure to get the extensions (from the hair tie, down) completely saturated with water.
Step Three | Shampoo
Using whatever type of shampoo you have, evenly distribute about a quarter size (or more if necessary) of product throughout the extensions. Rinse when finished.
Step Four | Condition
Using a moisturizing or hydrating condition (or even a conditioning mask works great), work a generous amount through the extensions, starting at the ends and working up into the rest of the strands. Leave on for 5-10 minutes to ensure the product has enough time to do its job. Rinse when finished.
Step Five | Air Dry
Gently squeeze out excess water and untie extensions. Separate extensions and lay flat to air dry on a towel.
Step 6 | Blow Dry & Style
I always blow dry my extensions because (in my opinion) they are easier to style afterwards. Before drying, I add a little shine serum and/or heat protectant to my extensions, comb through with a wide tooth comb, then blow dry with a round bristle brush. Then I style them!
The extensions I use are from Sally's, the Euronext brand. I believe the are the 14" extensions and were originally blonde when I bought them. I've loved these extensions but I'm ready to make the move over to Bellami asap!
