2-in-1 | Holiday Hair & Gold Glammed Up Eyes Tutorial

12.09.2013

I've been loving this gold eye look lately that I created using the original Urban Decay Naked Palette. It is so incredibly easy and versatile -- definitely one of my favorite looks for the holidays. I also included a holiday hair/retro wave tutorial in the video. Watch below or read on to see how I did it :)

I promise you this is one of the easiest looks to recreate...EVER!

Using just three eyeshadow colors you can achieve a super glam, super shimmery, gold smokey eye that is absolutely PERFECT for the holidays. Here's what you do:

1. Apply concealer (or an eyeshadow primer) to your lid and slightly up into your crease and brow bone
2. Use a highlighter (or a light champagne-colored shadow) and apply this all over your lid
3. Using Half Baked from the original Naked palette (or a similar shimmery gold color), lightly dampen your brush with water or spritz with setting spray and pack the shadow all over your lid.
4. Using Buck from the same palette, or a similar light brown color, apply this to your crease using a fluffy brush. Touch up the gold if necessary.
5. Taking Smog from the same palette (or a similar brownish gold color) and a pencil brush, apply this color to your outer v and take it slightly up into your crease to create that smokey effect.
6. Use your favorite liquid eye liner to line your upper lash line and extend the line to your liking to create a dramatic wing.
7. Fill in your brows then highlight under the brow bone and inner corner using the same color/highlighter as you did for step one.
7. Layer on the mascara, and if desired, apply false lashes (my faves are by Ardell).

There you have it for the eyes! Now for the hair...

1. Section off your hair so that it's sort of half up/half down.
2. Start with the bottom layer in the front, and curl about a one-inch section back. Hold for a few seconds.
3. Release the hair and immediately "roll" it, following the direction/shape of the curl, and pin it close to your head using a bobby pin (or two).
4. Continue for the rest of your hair, letting down sections and spraying with hairspray in between layers. Spray with hairspray and let cool for at least 15-20 minutes. The longer you leave it in, the longer your curls will hold.
5. Remove bobby pins and shake out your hair. I like to flip my head over and run my fingers through it. If you choose (you KNOW I would hehe) tease at the roots for additional volume. You could definitely leave your hair like this, or brush out with a boar-bristle brush to give it a more retro-effect. :)
