Neutral Eye Look | Day to Night

11.20.2013

I filmed these two eye looks using Urban Decay's Vice 2 palette. Although both are neutral looks, I added a couple things to take the first look up a notch for a more night-time smokey effect. Watch the video below or read on for more information!

Step One | Prime Your Lids
You can use an eyeshadow primer or your favorite concealer. Priming your eyes helps bring out the pigments in the shadows and helps them last longer. I apply the two top shades from Sonia Kashuk's Hidden Agenda palette all over my lids and take the excess up onto my brow bone.

Step Two | Apply Your Base
Using the brush that came with the palette (the fluffy end) I applied the color "Habit" all over my eye, then followed with "Dope."

Step Three | The Crease
Taking the color "Rewind" and the fluffy end of the brush, I applied this to my crease and the outer "v."

Step Four | The Lid
To add additional color to the lid, I used the denser "smudger" end of the brush to apply the color "Toxic" starting at the center of my lid, packing the color on almost all the way to the outer v, but stopping before actually getting to the area where the crease color starts.

Step Five | Touch Up
Going back in with the highlight colors I used (Dope & Habit), and my crease color (Rewind) I just touch up any areas that may need more color or more definition.

Step 6 | Eyeliner & Mascara
To create a winged look, I use L'Oreal Paris Carbon Black Lineur Intense. I start at the center of my lid, as close to my lashes as I can get, and start dragging the line toward the outer part of my eye. Then I go to my inner corner and connect this line to the middle, where I first started. Next I make the "wing" by dragging an angled line down to the outer corner of my eye. I draw a triangular shape above this line and fill in the middle.

For this look I used L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara. I applied a couple of coats and was finished!

....For the night look all I did was add a little bit of the color "Smokeout" to my crease using a thin pencil brush from Real Techniques. This makes the look more smokey and dramatic and transforms it from a day to night look. I also touched up and blended this out with whatever product was left on my fluffy brush.

...I lined my waterline and tightline with L'Oreal's Voluminous Carbon Black Smoldering Eyeliner Pencil. I added a little bit of color to my lower lash line using the excess product from the pencil brush I used on my crease; I also added a little more of the color Rewind, then applied mascara to my lower lashes.

...Finally, I touched up my winged eyeliner and added more mascara using Maybelline's Colossal Volume Express mascara and Maybelline's Rocket Volume Express mascara. False lashes would take this look up another notch!

Hope you enjoyed this look! I love this neutral eye for day-to-day wear, and it's super easy to turn it into a night-time look in a couple easy steps :)

xoxo
