I LOVE a bold lip color, and red is usually my go-to for a dramatic look. Watch the video below to see how I achieve the perfect red lip or keep reading for step-by-step instructions and products I recommend :)
For my red lip, I kept the following products on hand:
- L'Oreal Ideal Clean Makeup Removing Towelettes
- Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush
- NYX Retractable Lipliner | 11 Red
- MAC Matte Lipstick | Russian Red
- Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss | 018 Fire
>> First I mute out all pigment in my lips by taking my foundation brush (with no extra product on it) and brushing it all over my lips to give myself a nice clean slate. Also be sure all flakes/dead skin are removed before beginning. You can use a lip scrub/exfoliator or a soft toothbrush to remove any flakes.
>> Using my NYX Lipliner in Red, I start by lining my bottom lip. I work from the center to the outer corners. Next I line my top lip by drawing an 'x' in the center and again work outward toward the corners. Then I fill in my lips completely with the liner. This helps to ensure your color will stay on longer.
>> Next it's time to apply lipstick. My favorite red lipstick in Russian Red by MAC. It's a matte color, which I love. If you like a shinier lip, you can top it off with gloss. My favorite is Revlon's Colorburst Lipgloss in Fire.
>> All that's left to do is clean up! To ensure that you don't get any color on your teeth, all you have to do is put a clean finger in your mouth, which will take off all the lipstick from the inside of your lips.

Love the red lips! I never feel confident enough in pulling it off. My top lip just isn't full enough in my opinion!
